Educational Robotics

The robotics workshops in schools of municipal schools of Porto Alegre have coordination implemented by the Inclusão Digital Section of the pedagogical section of Education Division (SMED). Currently, 20 schools offer educational robotics workshop for about 2000 students.

Each school establishes its specific dynamics of work, and the primary objective is providing an environment of significant and factual learning, based on basic scientific research, as well as on the use of semistructured robotics kits, electronic components and technological scrap.

The organization of each school develops the robotics workshops as activities offered on the opposite shift to groups of 20 to 30 students in each encounter. Students are heterogeneous in age and grade level, in the same group will be different ages and school level. The workshops are weekly lasting between one hour and thirty minutes to three hours. The planning is designed individually by each teacher in coordination with other teachers and advisors.

Other motivators for learning is investing in scientific, competitions and challenges shows. Each of these activities requires an understanding of its proposal, preparation, research, ideation and assembly of a prototype. Our students have integrated significant events in the educational robotics area, such as lOlympiad Robotics, FIRST LEGO © League © National Shows Robotics, RoboCup - Educational Robotics World (2012 - Mexico 2013 - and 2014 Netherlands - Brazil) which is progressively achieving results that approximate the scenario of excellence in the area.
